Katrin auf der LakeThis study unites narratology and comic theory to describe evocative narrative strategies. It demonstrates how the narrative strategies used in Arthurian literature pick up on particular forms of knowledge specific to that period of cultural history in the act of literary communication. Alongside narrative strategies that generate comedy, the study thus traces possibilities for reconstructing historically absent inference knowledge.
